Accolades
"Academic excellence, social development, and civic responsibility..."

SENSE Charter School focuses not only on academics but also on community service and social development. We are proud of our students' progress in all of these areas.

A few highlights of our accomplishments include:

Academic

  • Top 10 among 2006 Marion County schools and top 50 statewide on student improvement on ISTEP+
  • "Top Gainer" from the the Indiana Student Achievement Institute for 2006
  • One of six elementary charter schools nation wide designated as a 2008 Silver-Gain award winner by EPIC National Charter School Consortium.

Civic

  • SENSE Students participate annually in the Tonic Gallery charity art event. Proceeds from the sale of student art benefit Second Helpings.
  • The African Library Project received over 1,000 books in 2007 that were donated and collected by students of SENSE Charter School, led by second grade teacher Jamie Pierce.
  • In 2008 Kindergarteners collected approximately 10,000 soda can tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House, which supports families of those receiving medical care.
