Curriculum
SENSE Charter School offers a solid, research-based curriculum that is selected by teachers and supports the national language arts and mathematics Core Curriculum, and Indiana State Standards. Special Area classes include art, Spanish language education, music, and physical education. Daily, every SENSE Staff member promotes academic excellence, social development, and civic responsibility.
K-6 Writing Instruction
- Integrate 6+1 Traits of Writing across the curriculum
- Implement innovative teaching strategies
- Incorporate Indiana Language Arts and Core Curriculum Standards
- Targeted writing across the curriculum
- Quarterly writing benchmark assessments
Mathematics
- Utilize hands-on, brain-based teaching strategies
- Resources, strategies, and materials supported by the National Council of Teacher of Mathematics (NCTM)
- Apply math skills across the curriculum
- Finely tuned levels of rigor
- Incorporate the Math Core Curriculum
Science and Social Studies
- Standards-based, cross-curricular units of study
- Hands-on projects, videoconferencing, and multi-media
Remediation and Learning Supports
- Coordinated Response to Instruction (RTI) models focus supplemental support for students working below grade level
- Data-based selection of instructional strategies to match student learning needs
Early Childhood Outreach
- Build children's background and knowledge through literature, play, and social interaction
- Title I funds provide Early Childhood learning opportunities
Schedule
The daily school schedule at SENSE is slightly longer than average and provides a significant advantage to students.
7:30am — Optional DayCare.

7:50am — Dropoff / Breakfast*
8:15am — Classroom Instruction Begins
1:35pm — Dismissal on Early Dismissal days
2:30pm — Dismissal on WEDNESDAY
4:00pm — Dismissal on M, Tu, Th, F
*Breakfast will be provided (for a fee) between 7:50–8:10am. To eat breakfast, students must arrive NO LATER than 8:10am.
Schedule Changes: Please contact the front office of transportation changes before 2:00pm.
