As a former elementary teacher, Director of the Challenger Learning Center of Brownsburg, Indiana, Technology Professional Development Coordinator, MSD of Pike Township, Trustees' Lecturer at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, and Title I/High Ability Coordinator, Center Grove Community School Corporation, I bring a variety of skillsets to my position at SENSE Charter School.
When I look at a child, I see a future leader! Every child deserves an education that ensures success and includes the best curriculum and tools in the industry. I believe that it is vital to offer an educational program that embraces 21st century skills, demands each child to think critically, promotes project- and problem-based experiential learning, and encourages students to explore what it means to be a global citizen.
The most important people in my life include my husband, Mike, and my two sons, Jeremy and Matt. Their encouragement and support have been the wind beneath my wings! My favorite hobbies are: reading; flower-arranging; and learning about new technology. My newest hobby is digital photography. I never stop learning!

Tim Horsman graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2001 with a B.S. in Psychology, and again in 2005 with a M.A. in Counseling. Mr. Horsman then packed up his family (wife JoAnna, and sons Lucas (6) Nathan (4), and Jonah (2)) and relocated to the paradise of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. After two years, the Horsmans were missing their family and friends, and moved back to Indiana. Tim joined the SENSE team as School Counselor in 2007. Mr. Horsman enjoys coaching his boys’ sports teams, playing disc golf, basketball, and mountain biking.
In my new role as Dean of Students/School Counselor, my goal is to personally connect with all of our students and families. In the 2010-2011 school year, SENSE will be focusing on building Patience, Authenticity, Compassion, and Effort (PACE) in our staff, students, and families. I invite all members of our community to contact me to discuss school/student issues at any time.

My name is Andrea Fisher and I am one of the Kindergarten teachers here at SENSE. I joined the SENSE staff in February of 2010 to fill-in for a maternity leave and was fortunate enough to come back and teach Kindergarten again! I am so excited to be here at SENSE. The community here is amazing and I am thrilled to be a part of it. I feel very fortunate to start my educational career at such a great school. I am excited to grow with SENSE and its family of educators and students towards our goal of becoming life-long learners.
I graduated from IUPUI in May of 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Since graduation I worked as a Special Education assistant for two years at New Palestine Elementary. I also filled in for two maternity leaves in Kindergarten classrooms as the lead teacher, one at Sugar Creek Elementary and one here at SENSE.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, Corey, and our family and friends. I love watching football especially the Indianapolis Colts! GO BLUE!! My husband Corey and I have two dogs, Sanders and Jasper. In my free time I like to read, take walks with Corey and our dogs and just relax!

I’m Cindy Campbell and this is my first year at Sense Charter School as a Kindergarten Assistant in Ms. Moore’s class. In 1990, a friend asked me to volunteer in her Kindergarten class two days a week. Enjoying myself so much that year, I became a full time assistant the following school year and all subsequent years since. My jobs have included being an assistant in Pre-K, Special Ed, First Grade and literacy tutor for 3rd through 5th grade. My favorite grade is Kindergarten. I have an Associate Science degree from Southern Union Community College in Lanett, AL. I have been married to my husband Robert for 39 years and we have two grown children, Brian and Stacey and a daughter-in-law, Diane who reside in San Francisco, CA. My favorite thing to do is to read a good mystery.

Ms. Frye taught one year of Kindergarten in Phoenix, AZ. She then moved back to Indiana and taught four years of first grade and spent one year as a K-3 Title 1 teacher. Her favorite thing about teaching is watching the kids in her class develop a life-long love of learning.
Her two-year-old son, Oscar, keeps her very busy when she’s not working at school. They love to play outside, dance to music, read truck books, and play hockey and soccer.

After working for 16 years in the early childhood field as a teacher/director and as a subsitute teacher, I returned to school to pursue my life-long dream of teaching elementary school. After graduating from IUPUI in May 2010, I joined the SENSE community as a first grade teacher. I believe that every child is a learner and that through differentiated instruction and project exploration students can learn to be productive citizens in their community as well as the global community. I am thrilled and excited to be part of the SENSE learning community.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband Dave and our two sons, Zach and Josh. I also like to play softball, watch old movies, read, volunteer in various venues and take leisure drives through the country.

My name is Elissa Mikol. I joined SENSE in April of 2008 to continue teaching 2nd grade for the remainder of the school year. I immediately loved the sense of community within the school and the relationships among the teachers and students. I am thrilled to be back teaching 2nd grade once again! I graduated from Indiana University in 2008 with a degree in Elementary Education, maintaining a strong focus in Urban Education. Afterwards, I worked in the Chicago Public School system, primarily with 2nd graders, but missed Indiana so much I decided to move back with my cat, Wendy! I am originally from Chicago (Go Cubs!), love pizza, and could not be happier here at SENSE. :)

My name is Jessica Shive, and I teach 2nd grade here at SENSE. I am originally from Highland, IN and moved to Indianapolis to attend school. I graduated from Butler University in 2008 (go Bulldogs!) with a degree in Early/Middle Childhood Education and a Special Education endorsement. My goals at SENSE are to encourage active learning and provide hands-on, inquiry-based learning opportunities in an environment in which every student can succeed. When I am not teaching I like to spend time with friends, listen to new music, volunteer, and play tennis.

My name is Alisa Kaczorowski. Since I came to SENSE in 2006, I have taught 2nd and 3rd grades. I graduated from Indiana University in 2005 and completed my Master's in Elementary Education at IUPUI in 2009. My husband, Don, and I have been married since 2005 and have a beautiful dog, a Goldendoodle named Hoosier. In my free time, I love to play racquetball, take walks with Hoosier, cook and read. I feel very privileged to be a part of the wonderful family we have here at SENSE.

My name is Krista Blubaum and I am one of the 4th grade teachers. I joined SENSE in 2005 during its 2nd year. After graduating from Ball State with a degree in Elementary Education, I went to work for a parochial school on the north side of Indianapolis. After I got married and had my daughter, I decided to try to find a school closer to my home and fell in love with SENSE. I am so excited to see the same students returning year after year and look forward to challenging our students to be life-long learners. When I am not at SENSE, all of my extra time is spent with my husband of 7 years, my 5 year old daughter (who also attends SENSE), and my 10 month old son. We enjoy watching the Colts on Sunday together or just running errands as a family.

My name is Jennifer Dixon (formerly Ms. Horner). I began teaching 4th grade at SENSEin 2006. Before I became part of the SENSE family, I taught 5th grade at another mayor-sponsored charter school. My first year out of college, I was a Title One teacher at an elementary school in Shelbyville. I graduated in 2001 with a degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University. I look forward to spending many more years at SENSE, and watching us become one of the best charter schools around!

Prior to entering the field of education, Mr. Tedrow worked as a counselor at a community mental health center and as the House Manager for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra after graduating from IUPUI with a B.A. degree in Philosophy and minors in Religious Studies and Psychology. Mr. Tedrow lives with his wife of eight years and high school English teacher, Casey, and their four-year-old son, Kellan, in Mooresville. In addition to teaching, other passions include playing classical piano, landscape design, hiking, and fantasy football.

Hi! I'm Jayme Willan, and I teach the 5th grade Language Arts classes. I am excited to be at SENSE for my second year, and I look forward to creating and learning with the students this year. I love teaching Language Arts, reading being my passion, and I have taught Language Arts in grades 5-8 for the past 9 years. I'm exciting to be returning to SENSE! The atmosphere of family and community at SENSE is just one of the many reasons I am excited to teach here. When I'm not teaching, I love to read all sorts of books, spend time with friends and family, and watch football (Go Colts and Go Irish!). I look forward to spending time with the students and families at SENSE this year, and I am certain this will be a great school year with many interesting and creative opportunities for the students. My name is Stephanie Imel and I am the 6th grade teacher here at SENSE. I am very excited to begin my first full year at SENSE, after working in Mrs. Chase's class while she was on maternity leave last winter and then finishing the year with 6th grade. I graduated from Butler University with a degree in elementary education and previously taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 4th and 5th grades at a magnet school in IPS. Currently, I am working on my Master's Degree in Curriculum at IUPUI. When I'm not teaching I love spending time with my husband, Devin; daughter, Kennedy; and two dogs, Maggie and Annie. We are expecting a little boy in October of 2008! I also enjoy watching football, cooking, reading, and dancing.

My name is Julie Canady and I have been teaching Spanish for seven years. This is my first experience working with elementary students and I am enjoying it. I am originally from Kokomo, Indiana and have two older sisters and one younger sister. One of my sisters is a Spanish teacher too! I graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Spanish. I enjoy spending time with my family and I also like to watch foreign films with my friends. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do; I have visited Mexico and Spain several times. I hope to someday visit all of the countries in Central and South America. The students at SENSE are great and together we are going to build a Spanish program that we can be proud of. I look forward to meeting you and visitors are always welcome in my classroom.

Hi, My name is Stacie Crama and I am the new music teacher here at SENSE. After graduating from Ball State University in 2000 with a degree in Music Education, I taught band and orchestra at various schools. I have also enjoyed working for Paige’s Music as an instrument advisor. I look forward to a great year at SENSE creating music with our talented students. When I am not teaching or playing the clarinet, I serve as a reservist for the 434 Civil Engineering Squadron at Grissom Air Reserve Base. Other than that I enjoy spending time with my husband Jeremy and our two cats.

I have been teaching Physical Education at SENSE for 3 years. It is my goal to teach the students the skills they need to live healthy active lives and to incorporate those skills into their daily lives now and in the future.
Outside of school I spend my time coaching freshman basketball at Beech Grove High School, hanging out with friends, cheering on my Ohio State Buckeyes, and going to church. I also love relaxing at home with my beautiful wife (Andrea), and 2 amazing little kids (Gabrielle and Brady).

Hello, my name is Billy Phillips. I have been drawing and painting since I was a small child. After I graduated from high school I went to college at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois to study art. Then I spent a few more years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I’m excited that I’m here in Indianapolis and get to teach art to the students at SENSE Elementary Charter School. When I’m not teaching I enjoy making my own paintings and drawings. Hi! My name is Susan Sherrow, and I am the new Special Education teacher at SENSE Charter School for 2007-2008. I have taught at all grade levels from K through 12, but my heart belongs with the special needs students. I was born and raised in Indiana, but I've lived and taught in Laredo, TX, Eden Prairie, MN, and Jupiter, FL My pride and joy is my 25 year old daughter, Andrea, who is circulation manager for Russell Publications in Indianapolis. I also have a beautiful nine year old Papillon named Brie, who came to us from a rescue shelter in Florida. When I have any leisure time, I enjoy walking with my dog, cross-stitching, and watching college football and basketball. I feel very fortunate to be a member of the great SENSE Charter School family.

After graduating from Purdue University in 2005, Mrs. Chase taught Kindergarten at Southwestern Elementary School in Shelbyville, Indiana. Mrs. Chase joined the SENSE family in 2006. She taught Kindergarten for four years and is currently the Title I teacher for grades K-2. While teacher Kindergarten, Mrs. Chase discovered her passion for helping students learn to read. She is currently working on her Master’s of Education to be an All Grades Reading Specialist. Mrs. Chase believes that every child deserves to learn 21st century skills in order to be productive global citizens. I joined SENSE when it opened its doors in 2004 and have enjoyed seeing the changes we have gone through as a community. My goal as a teacher is to support students on their path to becoming confident and successful members of our society.
I was born and raised here in Indianapolis and am now raising my own family here. My husband, Jeff, and I were married in 2002. We have two children, Ethan (2005) and Keira (2008). I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

Gil Liu is as a Pediatrician at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children and Scientist at Indiana University in Indianapolis. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Gil is bilingual and a first-generation Asian American and has particular expertise in school-based health promotion, community health assessment, and educational evaluation. He is currently serving as a volunteer at the Indianapolis Trinity Free Clinic and serves on the board of National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS).

William G. (Bill) Taft has served as the Indianapolis Executive Director for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) since June of 2005. LISC Indianapolis has invested more than $100 Million into projects developed by neighborhood-based community development corporations and other non-profits. These investments in comprehensive community development include affordable housing, small businesses, community facilities, charter schools, commercial corridor revitalization, and green spaces. This holistic approach was developed through the Great Indy Neighborhoods Initiative, resulting in six neighborhood revitalization efforts including the Near East Super Bowl Legacy Initiative.
Bill served as the president of Southeast Neighborhood Development, Inc. (SEND) from 1991-2005. Under Bill’s leadership SEND invested over $30 Million into dramatically revitalizing the Greater Fountain Square Area of Indianapolis, renovating more than 150 affordable apartments, developing and selling 120 homes to first-time home owners, making emergency repairs to more than 600 homes, helping 30 neighborhood businesses to expand, and teaching work and life ethics to more than 200 neighborhood youth.
Before coming to SEND, Bill was the Executive Director of Main Street Richmond, and he also served in positions with the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation, the office of Senator Richard Lugar, and the Historic American Buildings Survey.
Bill is a director of the Institute for Comprehensive Community Development, the Indianapolis Private Industry Council, Super Bowl Legacy Leadership Committee, the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention, Southeast Neighborhood School of Excellence, the Indianapolis Housing Trust Fund, and Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
Bill holds an undergraduate degree from Cedarville University, and a Masters Degree from the Ball State University College of Architecture and Planning. Bill lives in downtown Indianapolis with his wife Joanna and three children.
