SENSE Charter School's Cub Scout Pack 18 participated in this year's Pinewood Derby on March 23rd. It was held at IPS School 63. Pictured here are some of the SENSE participants. For more pics form the event visit: https://www.facebook.com/pg/cacafterschoolprograms/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2330687020493870 The Pinewood Derby is a racing event for unpowered, unmanned miniature cars. Pinewood derbies are often run by chapters (packs) of the Cub Scouts program of Boy Scouts of America. With the help of adults, Scouts build their own cars from wood, usually from kits containing a block of pine wood, plastic wheels, and metal axles. And then they decorate it. For the price of admission to this year's event, people could donate non-perishable food. The food was then donated to SENSE Charter and School 63 to help keep their pantry stocked. Thank you Boy Scouts of America Crossroads District and Josette Crawford, District Director for School & After-School Programs!

Ms. Navarro was rocking it today with one of our new guitars that was donated today to SENSE. This donation greatly assists in growing Ms. Whittle’s awesome guitar program. One of our School Board members, Lee Lewellen, donated two more acoustic guitars and one classical guitar, along with guitar stands and straps. Mr. Lewellen has been very generous to SENSE. He previously donated multiple guitars and musical equipment towards supporting our music program. He has also donated new coats, sweaters and games. And for that we thank him ever so much!

Arthur's Music Store keeps SENSE rockin'! With a generous donation of $1,000, Arthur's Music Store continues to support our school's music program. Ms. Whittle just purchased up another bass guitar from them to add to her growing musical instruments collection that she makes available to our students. This new purchase make available though this funding from Arthur's. Pictured here is Amy England (left) and Linda Osborn. They are the family act (and owners) of Arthur's Music Store. There are so many good reasons as to why playing a musical instrument is important, including that it is documented that it makes you smarter, less stressed, builds confidence, teaches patience, gives you a sense of achievement and is just plain fun! We are grateful to Arthur's Music Store for bring these many gifts to our school community.
